Sunday 28th July 2024 – Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

WELCOME TO OUR 160 ANNIVERSARY PATRONAL FESTIVAL

It is a delight to have you worshipping with us today as we celebrate with Archbishop Philip 160 years of God’s faithfulness to our Parish of St James’. We have much to be thankful for. It is the anniversary of this beautiful historic building that we celebrate today as Anglican services have been happening in Dandenong for 174 years. The pioneers of this Parish held the first Anglican Service at Dunbar’s Hotel on the 21st of July 1850 and this was followed by services in tents and later in a school house before the foundation stone of this church was laid by the Governor of Victoria on the 5th of July 1864. Now we are about to add a new significant building to this site and our Archbishop will be blessing this project and symbolically turning the first sod of soil after the service. Just as the pioneers laboured and strived to gather the resources for the first building, so too do we have a challenge before us to meet the rising costs of the New Parish Centre, but we believe it will be a blessing to this and to many future generations, and under God’s generous hand, we plan to see it come to fruition soon. We invite you to join us in this bold new project with your prayers and with your gifts.

Today we celebrate the confirmation of 5 young people.  Our prayer is that they would

grow in faith and love for the Lord and serve in his kingdom joyfully, today we celebrate
