Sunday 18th August 2024 – Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost

MISSION SUNDAY

Today we welcome Michelle Jackson from CMS Victoria who is our special

speaker for this Mission Sunday. Michelle served with CMS for a number of

years in Japan with her family but she now works for CMS Victoria in the area

of pastoral care and mobilisation. Michelle will be preaching this morning

showing how the prophecies of Ezekiel are fulfilled in Jesus Christ who comes

to us as God’s presence among us and sends the promised Holy Spirit to

us. Please bring your mission boxes this Sunday.

IMPORTANT ADVANCES IN THE BUILDING PROJECT

This week our building committee took our project before the Diocesan

Property Committee and we were cleared to advance to the construction

phase. A builder has been chosen but we are still fine tuning the contracts and

some adjustments to the final price. This is a great step forward which should

allow us to begin construction this year. We will be giving more detail over

the coming weeks once details are finalised.

VICAR’S LEAVE

Graeme and Jane will be taking two weeks annual leave from August

27th until Sept 9th. During this time, Rev. Dr. David Powys will be acting as locum.

NEXT SUNDAY

Is Vocation Sunday in the Diocese of Melbourne. This is to encourage people

to consider a vocation serving in the church. Churches are encouraged to use

ordination candidates and curates on this Sunday. We will have as our guest

speaker Mr Chris Waghorn who is an ordination candidate and is currently

working for Bible League Australia. He will share with us God’s word and

speak of the ministry of Bible League. This will be a good opportunity for you

to reflect on how God might use you in his service, whether in the church or

in broader society.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT GROWTH GROUP

Would you like to grow in your faith? Why not consider coming along on

Wednesday nights. Together we read the bible and learn from each

other. Different people lead the studies. Marien is leading us at the moment.

We share some light refreshments and finish at 9pm with prayer. Each

Wednesday night in the Supper room at 7:30pm.
